These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of The Greats (the “Game”), the website at thegreats.cricket, and related materials published by Long Room Studio (“we”, “us”, “our”).
By playing the Game or using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Game or site.
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to play the Game for private entertainment.
You may not copy, redistribute, reverse engineer, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from the Game except as allowed by applicable law or with our prior written permission.
During Early Access, the paid licence is offered at a Founders price of $5.99 USD until the end of day Friday 26 September 2026 (UTC). Thereafter the permanent retail price is $14.99 USD.
Early Access means the Game is still in active development; features, balance, and content may change. Purchase during Early Access does not guarantee any particular future feature.
The Greats is an unofficial text-driven historical Test cricket strategy game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the ICC, any national cricket board, any player, or any player’s estate. Names, eras, and scenarios are used in a soft historical / public-records sense for entertainment and commentary on the sport’s past. The Game is a work of interactive fiction and strategy, not an official simulation product.

Paid licences are sold via itch.io. Payment processing, tax display, and refunds are subject to itch.io’s buyer policies. Please contact itch.io support for purchase or refund requests relating to the storefront transaction.
Browser progress and settings are stored locally on your device. You are responsible for backing up any exported saves and for loss of data if you clear browser storage, change devices, or delete files. We are not obliged to restore local save data.
The Game and site are provided “as is” and “as available” during Early Access and thereafter, without warranties of uninterrupted or error-free operation to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
Subject to the above, our total aggregate liability arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the Game shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Game licence in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) £25.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections that apply in your country of residence.
